De-Flea

Somehow, fleas invaded the house. None of us are sure how it happened, since we no longer have any pets, but they've made it from the living room...to my room, at the farthest corner of the house from the living room. I discovered the little so-and-sos jumping around, trying to feast on my blood. And I think they've succeeded, since I have around 20+ disgusting, itchy bites all over my ankles and legs. Maybe that was too much information. No pictures--don't worry.

This means that today is "washing everything in/around/remotely related to Elspeth's bed" day. I also feel compelled to mention that I have this phantom itching--like there's something crawling around on my skin, but when I look, there's nothing there. And this is happening all over--my arms and scalp are the worst. Oh, horror! The thought of fleas in my hair is horrific, and I've been washing my hair extra carefully.

I'm leaving in a week! Fortunately, some of my friends (Katie and Cindy) are being nice enough to let me stay overnight in their apartment in Valpo before I drive to Iowa the next day. Thanks, guys! It will be a relief to see friends before going to the land of cornfields and light traffic. Actually, there will be five people living in the apartment, and I know all of them (although I really don't know one of the roommates that well, but I saw her around school and am pretty familiar with her from conversations my friends have had). Abby won't be around, since she and my former-suitey Melanie are exchange-teaching in Germany, and I don't know if Jaenelle will have moved in yet. I'm also hoping to see my other former-suitey, Emily, while I'm there! She's moving in that evening. I'm going to miss the German House (but not several of the people, for sure).
