This is raid #2 for the summer. Usually at certain points of the winter and early- to mid-summer, the friendly neighborhood ants decide that they want to pay our house and its nice, food-ridden interior a visit. It's a matter of some short panic--we normally get out the insect spray and ant traps and locate their source. This summer, the ants have decided that the normal invasion zones (the kitchen and bathroom) are too hazardous, and have decided to make their way to my room, instead.
This first happened in May, after I got back from graduation and discovered ants crawling around in my bed. Closer inspection revealed that they were on the floor, as well, ostensibly coming from somewhere under the bed. We weren't sure EXACTLY where they had come from, so my mother sprayed around the foundation and they eventually disappeared.
Like bad cold sores (and villains in cheesy horror film sequels), they're back, and with a vengeance. I've busted out the ant traps again, and am waging full-out war--though not without some bad feelings about killing them. But my unwillingness to share these tiny bedmates is currently outweighing my guilt. I think there are more this time.
I KNEW I shouldn't have eaten my lunch in here today.
