This is going to be a short one--don't say I didn't warn you!

I'm about a day away from submitting the First Deposit (yes, it gets caps) of my MA Thesis. Crazy, right? I don't feel like I'm experienced or old enough to be in the process of finishing a Master's degree. My topic is on the relationship of children and nostalgia in three British modernist novels from the early 1930s. Yeah, it's a bit complex. And I've been realizing for the past two months or so that it is really a dissertation-level amount of material. But too late to back down now!

I'm still not sure what I want the title to be. Kind of late for that, right? But it's such a complicated topic, as you've seen, and I want it to be something good, not just "Yadda Yadda, I Had to Pick a Title: Here It Is." No, I want something punchy. Something classy. Some sort of "NOTICE ME" title that is short enough to put a subtitle under it (I'll definitely need it).

This semester has been unbelievably tough. A lot of really unpleasant things happened in a really short amount of time, and that doesn't even include the thesis stress itself. But I'd prefer not to get into the pretty negative things, so instead I'll pass to positive (or at least neutral) things.

This weekend, to celebrate First Depositness, I plan to go to Chicago for Bluetopia, some sort of monthly blues dancing shindig that they have. I'm not really into blues--in fact, of the forms of swing dancing that I've learned so far, it's my least favorite--but it's Chicago! What not to love? Plus, I'll get to hang out with some pretty awesome people.

On a more positive note, lately I've been able to channel some of my creativity into a comic/journal. It's been reassuring to get so much positive feedback on it. It's not exactly professional--I draw the comics on notebook paper, scan them to my computer, and upload them onto facebook. But people have encouraged me to try to find some kind of publishing outlet--or at least a more public forum--for them. I'd really like to do that, so maybe that will be something to look into once my thesis is done!

So much to do for this thesis, and so little time. Please cross your fingers for me!
